Cumberland County Bassmasters was formed in 2005 by John and Al Franchetta to promote individual, competitive and fun bass fishing tournaments. It initially was a member of the B.A.S.S Federation, but there was not enough interest to stay in it. We fish local lakes and hold 4-5 open buddy tournaments per year. At the end of the season we hold an awards banquet at a location voted on by our members. As we are a member of the South Jersey Bass Club Association, we participate in the annual Bass Bowl, which takes the top six members of each club (there at this time 22 clubs in the association) at the end of the season, usually the 2nd or third Sunday in October in which the member clubs of the association vote on the location. Also at the end of the year we hold an awards banquet to honor those in the club that excelled in the tournaments.
At this time, we are accepting new members and sometimes will let a guest fish with a member upon club approval!

Cumberland County Bassmasters takes the 2023 Bass Bowl, which was held on Union Lake!
Congratulations to Cumberland County Bassmasters six man team consisting of Mark W., Bob P., Bob R., Joe F., John F. and Al F. for taking 1st place in the South Jersey Bass Club Association's annual Bass Bowl, which features the top six or so from each club in the association who compete in a "Bragging Rights" tournament held at a different location each year. This year it was held on Union Lake and our team had 28.15 lbs total with John's 6.06 lb. kicker bass!

At the February 21,2024 SJBCA meeting we will vote on the location of the 2024 Bass Bowl!
At the SJBCA meeting to be held on November 20, 2023 our club will submit the club and open tournament schedules for confirmation!
At the meeting, which was held on October 18, the club members agreed on the 2024 club schedule and also the open buddy tournament schedule. Also, the club membership will be $280. Members will not have to pay any entry fees for club tournaments (guest pay $20 per tournament) and the payout for each club tournament will be: $75 for first, $50 for second and $25 for third. Lunker will be $50!
Election of officers were held and the following were elected:

There will be a meeting at the clubhouse on 10/18 at &;00 to discuss the 2024 tournament schedules!
After the classic, the top six are eligible to participate in the SJBCA Bass Bowl.
An open buddy tournament was added for October 7, 2023 on Union Lake!

Due to permitting conflicts, the SJBCA Bass Bowl, which was scheduled for Beltzville Reservoir on October 15, 2023 has been switched to the second place vote of Union Lake!
The SJBCA fisherman's flea market will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

2023 Club Tournament results
06/21/2023 The first club tournament on the Maurice river featured Mark A taking first place with 5 bass for a total of 13.07, he also took lunker with 3.15. Mark W. took second with 5 fish weighing 6.04. Third place was by Bob P. with 2 bass for 3.06. 4th was John C. with 1 fish for 1.12. 5th Kevin O. 2 for 1.11. 6th, Bob R., 1 for .13. There were 7 anglers with 6 weighing in for a total of 16 bass for a total weight of 30.16 lbs. for an average weight of 1.88.
06/28/2023 Our tournament on Union Lake had 15 anglers competing with a total 23 largemouth and 3 smallmouth were brought to the scales for a total weight of 48.45 lbs. . Timmy M. Took first with 5 bass for 10.02 lbs., Howard B. took second with 4 bass for 7.71, he also took lunker with a 3.61 bass. John F. took third with 3 bass for5.03. 4th, Jim C. 2 for 4.34. 5th, Bob R. 2 for 4.05. 6th, Troy P. 2 for 3.43. 7th, Ken O. 2 for 3.37. 8th, Lally P. 1 for 2.90. 9th, Jay B. 2 for 2.50. 10th, Vinny P. 1 for 2.45. 11th, Al F. 1 for 0.98. 12th, Mark W. 1 for 0.67. Average weight per bass was 1.93.
07/05/2023 Lake Audrey gave up a lot of bass for the 19 anglers fishing it. A whopping 84 bass were caught for a total of 90.88 lbs. First place honors go to Bob P. with 5 bass for 6.72, second went to Kevin O. with 5 for 6.14. Third was John F. with 5 for 6.00. 4th Joe F. with 5 for 5.90. 5th Howard B with 5 for 5.87. 6th John C. with 5 for 5.73. 7th Vinny P. with 5 for 5.73 (tie breaker for 6th and 7th determined by biggest bass length) 8th Mark W. with 5 for 5.40 9th Larry P. with 5 for 5.14 10th Bob R. with 5 for 5.11 11th Jay B. with 5 for 5.09 12th Dominic S. with 5 for 4.92 13th Jim C. with 5 for 4.59 14th Mark A with 5 for 4.41 15th Troy P. with 5 for 3.35 16th Al F. with 2 for 1.67 15th Steve P. had no bass weighed in. 07/12/2023 Sunset Lake was hot with light winds. With 15 club members and 4 guest, a total of 39 Bass were caught for 58.17 lbs.. Mark W. took first with 5 bass for 8.40. He also took lunker with 2.31. Second went to Joe F. with 5 bass for 7.70. Third place went to John F. with 5 bass for 7.67. 4th, Vinny P. with 5 bass for 7.59. 5th was Bob P. with 4 bass for 5.12. 6th was Howard B. with 4 bass for 4.97. 7th was Bob R. with 3 bass for 4.63. 8th was Brian N. with 2 bass for 2.78. 9th was Timmy N. with 2 bass for 2.73. 10th was Jim C. with 2 bass for 2.68. 11th was Jay B. with one bass for 1.56. 12th was Al F. with one bass for 1.00. 07/19/2023 Shepperd's Mill had a very dismal catch. With 10 anglers fishing, only 9 keeper bass were weighed in for 6.25 lbs.. There were plenty of sublegal bass caught though. First place honors went to Joe F. with 3 bass for 2.33. He also had lunker weighing 1.06. Second place went to Bob R. with 1 bass for 0.90. Third place was Bob P. with 1 for 0.72. Fourth place was a tie with Troy P. and Vinny P. both catching a bass for 0.62. 6th place was Kevin O. with 1 for 0.56 and 7th place was Brian N. with one for 0.50. John F., Howard B. and Dave B. did not bring any to the scale. Average weight per bass was 0.70
07/26/2023 Salem Canal had 14 Anglers catching 38 bass for 59.74 lbs. First place honors went to Kevin O. with 5 bass for 11.53, Second place was Jay B. with 5 bass for 11.49, 3rd was Troy P. with 5 Bass for 6.66, 4th was Mark W. with 5 bass for 6.10 5th was Bob P. with 4 bass for 5.75, 6th was Howard B. with 2 for 4.98, he also had lunker with 4.00. 7th was John F. with 4 bass for 4.13, 8th was Joe F. with 2 for 3.11, Vinny P. took 9th with 2 for 3.08, 10th went to Trent C. with 1 for 1.79, 11th was Justin F. with 1 for 2.00, 12th was Bob R. with 1 for 0.82. Jake B. and John C. did not bring any to the scale. Average weight per bass was 1.57
08/02/2023 Malaga Lake had 16 anglers catching 26 bass for 39.19. Mark A. took 1st with 5 fish for 9.78. 2nd place went to Bob R. with just 1 bass weighing 4.00 which also took lunker. 3rd was Jim C. with 2 Bass for 3.63. 4th was John C. with 3 fish for 3.25. 5th was Larry P. with 2 for 2.79. 6th was Kevin O. with 2 for 2.56. 7th Mark W. with 2 for 2.48. 8th John F. with 2 for 2.46. 9th was Steve P. with 2 for 2.16. 10th was Howard B. with 2 for 2.03. 11th was Joe F. with 1 for 1.84. 12th was Bob P. with 1 for 1.28. 13th was Troy P. with 1 for 1.23. Trent C., John F. Jr. and Brian did not weigh any in. Average weight of bass was 1.51
08/09/2023 Clarks Pond had a very dismal catch for the 11 anglers fishing. Only 7 Bass weighing a total of 14.36 lbs. were weighed in! 1st place went to Mark W. with 2 bass for 5.22, he also had lunker with 3.77 lbs. 2nd was John F. with 2 bass for 3.74. Kevin O. took 3rd with 2.41, 4th was Bob P. with 1 for 1.70. 5th was Mark A. with 1 for 1.39. Jim C, Troy P., Bob R., Al F., Howard B. and Brian N. did not weigh in.
08/16/2023 Union Lake had a decent catch with 11 anglers catching 23 bass for a total weight of 34.98. First place went to Howard B. with 5 bass for 6.81, Second was Mark W. with 4 bass for 6.60, Third was Mark B. with 5 bass for 6.21, 4th was Joe F. with 3 bass for 5.23. He also took lunker with a smallmouth of 2.97, 5th was Bob P. with 3 bass for 4.97, 6th was Troy P. with 2 for 4.37, 7th was Al F. with one bass for .82 Bob R., Brian N., Steve P. and Keith O. did not bring any to the scales.
08/23/2023, Salem Canal featured 13 Anglers and 30 bass were caught for a total of 44.46. Tim N. took first place with a decent catch of 5 bass for 10.04. Kevin O. took second with 5 bass for 9.55. He also took Lunker with a 2.91 bass. Jay B. took third with 4 bass for 4.37. 4th was Mark W. with 3 bass for 4.19. 5th place went to John F. with 3 bass for 3.36. 6th was Mark A with 2 bass for 3.13 7th was Joe F. with 2 bass for 2.30. 8th was Bob Potts with 2 bass for 2.20. 9th was Howard B.. with 1 bass for 1.73. 10th went to Trent C. with 1 bass for 1.59. 11th was Troy P. with 1 bass for 1.02. 12th was Bob R. with 1 bass for 0.99. 08/30/2023 Lake Audrey did not disappoint and as usual, the bass were on the small size. 18 anglers caught a total of 65 bass for 69.34 lbs. 1st place went to Jay B. with 5 bass for 7.36 lbs. 2nd place went to Kevin O. with 5 fish for 6.69, 3rd place honors went to Joe F. with 5 for 5.99, 4th place was Vinny P. with 5 bass for 5.66, he also took lunker with a 1.96 bass, 5th was Bob R. with 5 for 5.65, 6th was Mark W. with 5 for 5.57, 7th was John F. with 5 for 5.49, 8th was Brian W. with 4 for 5.02, 9th was Larry P. with 5 for 4.90, 10th was Al F. with 4 for 4.27, 11th was Troy P. with 4 for 4.14, 12th was Bob P. with 3 for 3.43, 13th was Ayden B. with 3 for 3.34, 14th was Mark A. with 3 for 2.80. 15th was Trent C. with 2 for 2.27 Jim C. and Steve P. did not weigh in.
09/06/2023 Temperature wise the club tournament at Sunset Lake was the hottest one of the year, but there were 37 bass caught for 54.16lbs. Unfortunately the scale malfunctioned and we had to use a hand scale, so weights were in pounds and ounces. First place went to Brian N. with 5 bass for 9 lbs, 9oz. Second was Mark A. with 5 for 7lbs, 14oz. Third place went to Jay B. with 5 bass for 7lbs, 7oz. Jay also took lunker with a 2lb, 6oz Bass. 4th had Joe F. weigh in 4 bass for 5lbs, 12oz. 5th was John F. with 4 for 5lbs, 9oz. 6th was Bob P. with 4 for 5lbs, 3 oz.7th was Bob R. with 4 for 4lbs, 8oz. 8th was Mark W. with 3 for 3lbs, 14 oz. 9th was Al F. with 1 bass for 1lb, 11oz. 10 place was Kevin O with 1 for 1lb, 8oz. 11th was Trent C. with 1 bass for 1lb. Troy P. and Howard B did not weigh any in.
09/13/2023 Our final regular season tournament was held on Union Lake with 12 anglers participating. A total of 18 bass were caught for a total weight of 31.33 lbs., which included one smallmouth bass. First place went to Jay B. with 3 bass for 4.88 lbs. Second place was Mark W with 2 bass for 4.44 lbs. He also took lunker with a 2.73 lb. bass. Third was Bob P. with 3 fish for 4.31. Al F. took 4th with 4.15 lbs. John F. took 5th with 3.86 lbs. 6th was Brian N. with 2 for 2.99 lbs., 7th was Mark A. with 1 bass for 2.64 lbs. 8th was Bob R. with 1 bass for 1.53 lbs. 9th was Kevin O. with 1 for 1.28 lbs. 10th was Joe F. with 1 for 1.15 lbs.
